Creating SDL TMS configurations

A SDL TMS configuration controls the job creation process, determining what file types can be included in the job, what languages can be processed, and how the tasks in the job will be handled and by whom.

Before you begin

Before defining a SDL TMS configuration you need to have defined Language Pairs, Workflows and Content Types.

About this task

You need to create one or more configurations on the SDL TMS depending on your Translation BluePrint and translation strategy as described in the section BluePrinting and translation.

Procedure

  1. Open SDL Translation Management System (SDL TMS).
  2. In your organization Configurations Folder, click Add Configuration:
  3. Define an SDL TMS configuration:
    • Organization—the organization for which the configuration was created
    • Name—the name of the configuration
    • Description—a description of the configuration and its usage
    • Content Types—the types of content that can be processed using this configuration
    • Language Pairs—source language to target language pairs that can be processed using this configuration (each Language Pair in the configuration must specify the same source language)
    • Project Manager—the project manager assigned to this configuration.
    • Guid—the Globally Unique Identifier value assigned to uniquely identify the configuration (generated by SDL)

The Guid assigned to the configuration—referred to as a SDL TMS Client ID in the Content Manager—is needed when you configure a Source Publication.
