BluePrint items

Items in a BluePrint Publication can be a shared item, a local copy (of a shared item), or a local item.

Shared items
Shared items are read-only items that are shared from a Parent Publication. These items cannot be edited in a Child Publication.
A Child Publication shares the following items from a Parent Publications based on the priority of the Parent Publications:
  • Publication rights and permissions
  • Folders (including Folder permissions)
    • Component Templates
    • Components
    • Page Templates
    • Schemas
    • Target Groups
    • Template Building Blocks
    • Workflow Process Definitions
  • Virtual Folders
  • Structure Groups (including Structure Group permissions) and Pages
  • Categories and Keywords
Local copies
A local copy is a shared item that has been localized in a Child Publication. When you localize a shared item, you create a local copy of the item. The item then becomes an editable copy of the original Parent item.
Local items
A local item is an item created in the Publication (not shared from a Parent).
