Content Manager data is stored in objects in the database. You can create new objects for XML data from the Publication Manager, from your authoring tool, or when assembling the map.
Before you begin
- The template you use must be available in Content Manager before you create the new object.
- You must have permission to edit and store objects in the Content Manager repository.
About this task
The template contains a standardized approach for tagging your XML data according to the DTDs approved by your organization. You can create a new object in
Content Manager using an approved template stored in the repository. How to create a new object from your authoring tool using a template is described.
Procedure
- In your authoring tool, select .
The Select template dialog appears.
- Select the template you want to use from the appropriate tab, then click Next.
The Select target folder dialog appears.
- Select the folder in which you want to store the object.
- The folders in which you are permitted to store content are yellow.
- The folders in which you are not allowed to store content are grey.
- Click Next.
The Properties dialog appears.
- Enter the metadata for the object.
Mandatory metadata are marked with an asterisk (*).
In the properties dialog, Immediately check out the object (bottom left) is checked by default. By default, the object is open in edit mode. To open in read-only mode, uncheck the Immediately check out the object box.
- Click OK to open the new object.
