Populating a new publication

This scenario describes how to create a new publication, add a new map, and populate the map in one procedure.

Procedure

  1. In Publication Manager, create or open the Publication.
  2. Add a Map; right-click on the publication in the left pane then select Add > Map.
    The repository view is displayed.
  3. In the repository view, select an appropriate folder and create or select a Map.
  4. Click Add to add it to the new publication.
  5. Right-click on the map and Check Out.
  6. Click Tools > Browse repository.
  7. Locate and select the objects to add to your map.
    Hold the Ctrl key down to select several objects at one time (if they are in the same folder).
  8. Drag the selected objects from the repository view into the map in the Publication Manager.
    You are prompted to select the element to insert for the objects.
  9. From the drop down list, select Topic Ref to Topic.
  10. Click in the box Apply to All.
  11. Click OK.
    The topics are added to the map. You can arrange them using the arrows on the toolbar in the left pane.
  12. When done, Check In the map and Save the publication.
