Deprecated architecture and features
Certain aspects of the SDL Tridion Sites architecture are considered deprecated, and some product features are as well.
- Deprecated User Generated Content (UGC) feature
The User Generated Content (UGC) functionality (deprecated in SDL Tridion Sites as from SDL Tridion Sites 9.1, but a core feature in SDL Tridion Docs) allows your website visitors to rate and comment on content. - Deprecated Audience Manager feature
Audience Manager enables marketing departments to gather information about audiences, such as interests, preferences, and characteristics and use this information to target audiences. - Deprecated Outbound E-mail feature
Outbound E-mail is a feature that lets you manage e-mail campaigns. It requires that Audience Manager is set up. - Deprecated Monitoring feature
The deprecated Monitoring feature enables you to monitor various SDL Tridion Sites processes. - Deprecated Safeguard feature
As of SDL Tridion Sites 9, Safeguard is no longer an actively support product feature. If you want to use it, you must contact SDL Customer Support to obtain a separate installer for it. - Deprecated Content Delivery architecture
In SDL Web 8, the Content Delivery architecture was transformed into a RESTful, service-based setup, and SDL advises that you migrate to it as quickly as possible. We continue to support the deprecated in-process setup so that you can migrate gradually. Use the processes in this section only to maintain an old Content Delivery infrastructure. - Deprecated Content Delivery Roles
A number of Content Delivery Roles are deprecated. - Deprecated Content Delivery storage on the file system
It is no longer possible to publish content without using a database. Publishing content to the local file system, instead of to a database, is a deprecated feature that is only available for some item types, and that disables you from using a large number of microservices and associated product features. - Other transport protocols than HTTP or HTTPS
As of SDL Web 8, protocols other than HTTP or HTTPS (both those included in the product or custom ones you developed yourself) are deprecated.
