Monitoring architecture
You can monitor various SDL Tridion Sites processes by installing a Monitoring Agent on a machine that runs a process you want to monitor: either a machine that runs the Content Manager server, or a machine that runs one or more Content Delivery Server Roles.
You configure which processes you want to monitor in the Monitoring Agent configuration file, cd_monitor_conf.xml. You can configure Heartbeat Monitoring or Service Health Monitor depending on the process.
A Monitoring Agent can communicate the status of the SDL Tridion Sites processes running on the machine as follows:
- The Agent can log all changes to SDL Tridion Sites processes to a monitoring log file, which an external monitoring management application can monitor.
- The Agent can send SNMP notifications (traps) to an external monitoring management application.
- The Agent can be queried through a TCP/IP remote interface exposed through the Monitoring Agent web service, which an external monitoring management application may communicate with.
