User rights required for installation

Unless indicated otherwise, all installation tasks must be performed by a user who has logged on with administrator-level user rights to the machine on which the software component is to be installed. Where necessary, the user must also have full access to the Services for Internet Information Services (IIS).

There are two types of machines that need to be accessed for information and/or for setting up your SDL Web system, including the website and secure bindings.

  • Owned by Corporate IT typically, an identity server/federation server necessary to allow Single Sign-On (SSO) access to the SDL Web system.
    • As an installer you may not have access to this server, however you need to ask the administrator of this machine to provide you with security and user information key to the installation and set up of SDL Web.
  • Web server such as Windows Server 2012 R2 for the installation of your SDL Web system. For this installation you will need full access to the Services for Internet Information Services (IIS).
