Adding fields to a WebForm

About this task

The following procedure describes how to add a Default Field to a form. For more information about Default Fields, refer to Adding fields to a Form.

To add Default Fields to a form, do the following:

Procedure

  1. In WebForms Designer, create a new form or open an existing form.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • If you are adding the field to an existing form page, select the page tab of the page you wish to add fields to in the preview pane.
    • If you want to add the field to a new form page, create a form page. Adding a Form Page to a Form explains how.
  3. In the Toolbox pane, select the Default Field category.
  4. Select the Field Type that you want to add to the form.
  5. Drag-and-drop the field type from the Toolbox to the location on the WebForm.

The new field is now selected in the Preview pane, and the editable properties of the form are displayed in the Properties pane.

  6. If applicable, you can type the label for the field and the hint text directly in the design view of the form.
  7. Edit the properties of the field. Refer to Field properties for information about the types of values that you can add for these properties. Some properties, such as label, hint text, and size may be displayed in the Preview Pane as you add values.

The Unique ID for the field may be used when assigning export properties of the form, when creating summary pages, and when creating relevance conditions. Therefore it is important that the ID you assign makes it clear what content the field is meant to capture.
