Adding a file system mount

About this task

In addition to local file systems, you can mount remote file systems for WorldServer. Remote file systems can include Windows shares (through Samba or NFS) for the File Type Support (FTS) server. For more information on FTS configuration, see the WorldServer Installation and Upgrade Guide.

Procedure

  1. From the Management > Asset Interface System > AIS Mounts page, click Add.
WorldServer displays the Mount: New page.
  2. In the Generic Configuration area:
    1. Supply a descriptive name.
    2. From the Type list, select File System.
  3. Apply type-specific properties as described in the following table:
    PropertyTypeDescription
Directory pathText fieldThe path of the file system directory, for example, c:\WSmount. The directory must already exist before you refer to it.
Versioning supportCheck boxSpecify whether the mount supports the versioning functions of Check In (create version), History (with Rollback option), and Compare Versions.
    Change detectionRadio buttons:
    • Use file timestamps
    • Use file contents
You can choose to use either a timestamp or the content's checksum as a fingerprint to detect whether the file has changed. Selecting "Use file contents" prevents you from getting change detections when a file has been copied or simply touched, but requires more overhead. The default is "Use file timestamps" so your legacy configuration is preserved.
  4. Click Save.

Results

WorldServer returns to the refreshed Management > Asset Interface System > AIS Mounts page. You can now view your mount and content from the Explorer.
