Creating Locale Folders

About this task

All content in WorldServer is associated with a locale. This section provides guidelines for organizing your content by locale and describes how to create folders to associate with locales.
We strongly recommend that you place the locale folder or folders at the highest level possible under the AIS mount. For example, if the name of your mount is XML, the following figure illustrates the placement of several locale folders directly beneath the mount:

Figure 1. Organization of locale folders

You can then place the source content under the source locale folder. For example, if the source content is in US English, then plan to place the source content under the en_US folder. In this figure, the top directory of the source content is named OpenTopic.

Create at least one locale folder (for your source content) and one locale folder for each additional locale you have created:

Procedure

  1. In WorldServer, in the Explorer, navigate to the directory in which you will create the locale folders. Following our guidelines, navigate to the mount directory.
  2. Click Asset > New.
  3. In the New Folder or Asset dialog box, click Folder to create a directory.
  4. In the Name field, enter the name of the directory. For consistency, we recommend that you use the same name you assigned to the locale, either an ISO code (for example, en_US) or a human readable name (for example, US English).
  5. Click OK.
The new folder appears in the Explorer.
