The WorldServer Translation Process

WorldServer offers several choices for how you perform your translations. You can translate assets in WorldServer itself, using the WorldServer Browser Workbench, or you can perform the translation offline in SDL Trados Studio 2019, in older versions of SDL Trados Studio, or in other third-party desktop translation tools. If you choose to perform the translations offline, you must export the assets, translation memory, and terminology database; perform the translation; then import the material back into WorldServer.

The Browser Workbench is designed to handle a small volume of translation. It does not offer all the features that desktop translation tools do. However, the Browser Workbench allows you to save quickly to your WorldServer AIS repository and to generate a preview of the target document. Studio and other desktop translation tools are full-featured Windows applications that support higher volume, and therefore are preferable for large translation volumes.

Before learning how to use the translation workbenches themselves, you should understand how WorldServer prepares and exports your assets for translation.
