To claim Tasks

To be able to work on a Task, you must claim it first.

Before you begin

When a workflow step is assigned to multiple users or to a workflow role consisting of multiple users, the corresponding Tasks appear in each assignee's Tasks list. The user who will work on the Task must claim it to prevent other users who are assigned to the Task from editing the asset. You can claim a Task manually, by selecting it and clicking Claim on the ribbon, or claim it automatically when you export or open it in the WorldServer Translation Workbench.

If your workflow can involve multiple iterations through the same step and you want the same person to be assigned the Task each time it returns to that step, then the user should not unclaim the Task when done. Alternatively, if you want the Task to be available to any appropriate user, regardless of whether they handled the Task the first time or not, then your users should unclaim the task when they are done.

For example, after you complete the Translate step and you unclaim the Task, when the Review step is completed and the Task returns to the Translate step (if, for example, the Reviewer rejected the translation), any of the assignees could claim it. Alternatively, if you do not unclaim the Task after completing the Translate step, after the Review step, if the Task is returned to the Translate step, it will remain claimed by you.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Projects page. To access the Projects page, you can either go to Home > Overview and then click the number of projects on the top right of the screen, or you can go to Home > Projects on the slide-out navigation pane.
  2. Expand the desired Project Group and then select one or more Project(s). To automatically see all the Tasks within the Project Group or Project, click the Project Group/Locale name.
    The Tasks page is displayed.
  3. On the Tasks page, select the Task(s) you want to claim. On the ribbon, click Claim.
  4. On the confirmation dialog box, click Yes. If you decide later not to work on a claimed Task, unclaim it to allow another user to claim and work on it.
