The Home tab contains the most frequently used commands for working with translation memories (TMs) in Trados Studio.

The following table describes all the default groups and commands that are displayed on the Home tab in the Welcome view:

Project Settings

Select this option this to display the Project Settings dialog for the active project.

Configuration

Upgrade Translation Memories

Select this option to upgrade your SDL Trados 2007 and SDLX TMs, so that they can be used in Trados Studio. The Upgrade Translation Memories wizard is displayed.

Translation Memory

Align Documents

Align Single File PairSelect this option to pair one source file to its corresponding target file and generate one single alignment result (*.sdlalign) file.
Align Multiple Files

Select this option to align several pairs of files at the same time. This generates an alignment result (*.sdlalign) file from each pair of source and target file.

Trados Studio sends the TUs that result from all the generated alignment result files to the same TM.

Open Alignment

Select this option to open an alignment result file (*.sdlalign file) for review in the Alignment view. Trados Studio generates *.sdlalign files when you align single or multiple files and you choose to save the alignment result file for later review.

Create AutoSuggest Dictionary

Select this option to create an AutoSuggest dictionary.

Open Retrofit File

Select this option to open a Retrofit file (*.sdlretrofit file) for review in the Alignment view. Trados Studio generates *.sdlretrofit files when you update project files with changes in exported target files and you choose to review the automatic alignment that is performed during the process.

Terminology Management

Select this option to open MultiTerm.

MultiTerm is the main client component of MultiTerm Desktop Desktop. It enables you to manage termbases and termbase content.

Software Localization

Select this option to open Passolo where you can create new or work with existing localization projects. Passolo is a localization tool for text resource translation and software localization. Text resources are the text components of a software that are displayed on screen.

The Essential version of Passolo, included as a separate download when you purchase Studio, includes all the functions you need to localize software. However, it has some restrictions compared to the Passolo Professional and Passolo Team editions.
