Migrating XML v1-based file type configurations in Trados Studio
If you have custom file type configurations based on XML v1 file type settings, you must migrate these to an XML v2 format, because all XML v1-based file type configurations will deprecated throughout 2022. You can perform the migration process in Trados Studio.
Procedure
- Export the settings of the custom XML v1-based file type configuration from Trados Team.
- Log in to Trados Team.
- Go to the Resources view.
- Select File Type Configurations.
- Select the check box of the file type configuration where you have an XML v1-based file type.
- Select Edit.
- Identify the XML v1-based file type in the list.
- Hover over the file type.
- Select the download icon to download the
*.sdlftsettingsof the file type.
- Create an XML v2-based file type in Trados Studio and import the
*.sdlftsettings(from Trados Team).- Access Trados Studio.
- Go to File > Options.
- Select File Types.
- Select New....
- In the Select Type dialog, select XML 2 and select OK.
- On the File Type Information page, give a name to the XML 2 file type and enter a description in the File type identifier field. For example: "XML 2.0.0.0 based on XML 1". Always include "XML v 2.0.0.0" in the description so that you can easily distinguish between other XML IDs in the list of file types.
- On the Parser Rule Type page, select XPath rules.
- On the XML Settings Import page, select Define Settings based on XML and select Browse to import your XML 1 file type settings.
- In the Import settings dialog, make sure to select the SDL settings files (*sdlftsettings) option and browse to the location where your file is available on your computer.
- Select your file and select Next to review the status of the settings imported from your
*.sdlftsettings. Any converted settings that need to be manually reviewed are marked with a warning or information sign. - Verify that the File Detection and Namespaces settings have been imported correctly and make adjustments if necessary. - On the Parser Rules page, check the list of converted settings and manually fix any settings that show a Warning icon in the Details column.
- Select Finish.
- Export the
*.sdlftsettingsof the XML v2-based file type you created in Trados Studio. - Import the
*.sdlftsettingsin Trados Team.
