Using Translation Quality Estimation
Translation Quality Estimation is an advanced translation and review feature enabling you to leverage Machine Translation (MT) and AI capabilities.
The Translation Quality Estimation feature, powered by RWS, consists of 2 independent modules: Machine Translation Quality Estimation or MTQE (powered by Language Weaver) and Smart Review (powered by AI and LLMs). MTQE and Smart Review are purchased separately based on a contractual agreement.
What is MTQE and how does it work?
MTQE is based on Language Weaver MT engines which have quality estimation capabilities. Here is how MTQE works:
- You include the MTQE engines in the translation engines of your project.
- When the file reaches the Translation task, you open the file in Trados Online Editor. All segments which have MTQE origin are usually locked and marked by a vertical line which can be green (high quality), amber (medium quality), or red (low quality).
- You select a segment, and open the Translation Quality panel to check the details of that segment.
- You can keep the content as is or unlock it for editing.
- When finished, confirm the segment.
What is Smart Review and how does it work?
AWS Bedrock LLM and it is used to assess your translations. Here is how Smart Review works:
- You create a project.
- When the file reaches the Translation task, you open the file in Trados Online Editor.
- You select a segment, and edit it.
- You open the Translation Quality panel and select Estimate. The system returns an estimation of that segment via a score and a comment explaining the reason for this assessment. The score is represented by a vertical line which can be green (high quality) or red (low quality).
- You edit your segment based on the comment, and then select Estimate again.
- When finished, confirm the segment.
