Content Manager clients
Content Manager clients include client-side user applications for creating and managing content as well as server-side applications that connect to the Content Manager. Clients connect to the Content Manager through the Core Service, IIS or WebDAV.
The following diagram provides an overview of the various Content Manager clients that you can choose to install:
The following list summarizes the general purpose and types of functions that you can perform using the different clients:
- Experience Space user interface
- Content editors use Experience Space as their primary user interface, as the UI is designed especially for them and optimized for editorial efficiency. The UI can be used alongside the Classic user interface.
- Classic user interface
- The "Classic" user interface include the following browser-based clients:
- Templating clients
- If your organization uses a template-based publishing model, developers and website designers can use the following clients to help with template creation:
- Template Builder
- Template developers use the Template Builder client application to combine Template Building Blocks (TBBs) into a Compound Component Template (CTs) or Compound Page Template (PTs).
- .NET templating
- Template developers use .NET assembly templating to create and upload .NET assemblies that can be used as Template Building Blocks in a Compound Template.
- Dreamweaver Templating
- Website designers can use Adobe Dreamweaver to create and edit Adobe Dreamweaver Templates (.dwt files) for use in Compound Templates. The client connects to Content Manager using WebDAV—to enable this you need to set up a site that connects to the Content Manager using WebDAV.
- Visio Workflow Designer
- Implementers can use Visio Workflow Designer to create and configure Workflow Process Definitions for Content Manager. The application, a plug-in for Microsoft Visio, runs on a client machine and communicates with Visio Workflow Server on the Content Manager server.
- WebDAV connector
- Content Manager users in a variety of roles can use the WebDAV Connector to navigate through and use Publications and Folders as if they were a file system. It provides users with easy access to Schemas, Components, Multimedia Components, and Templates so that they can add, edit, delete, and move Content Manager items as if they were part of a Windows file system using external applications. The WebDAV Connector requires client-side and server-side configuration.
