Replying to a comment (topic view)

A comment is comprised of the original comment and feedback from users who reply to the comment. Comment replies appear subordinate to the original comment, ordered from the oldest (at the top) to the newest (at the bottom).

Before you begin

This procedure assumes that a topic is open.

You must have the appropriate group permissions, which govern the actions that you can perform in commenting.

About this task

You reply to a comment directly in the topic. You can also indirectly reply to a comment by clicking a topic link in the comment table (tabular view), which opens the topic. To access the comment table, click Home in the breadcrumb trail, and then from the Administration Tools pane, click Comments.

Procedure

  1. With a topic open, display the Comments pane:
    1. If the Comments pane is not visible, click the eye button in the header to make it visible.
    2. Initially, all comments are listed. To filter the comment listing, you can click Topic comments or Inline comments from the filter drop-down list.
    3. If necessary, click Expand (downward arrows) on the right side of the comment for which you want to post a reply.
    4. Optionally, click the Show referenced text (T) button to show the content referenced by that comment.
    5. If you are in Publication Manager, click View > Comments.
  2. In the Reply to comment field, enter your reply.
  3. Click Reply (or press Enter).
