About workflow types

Workflows have a Workflow Type property, which you can set when you configure the Start step or when you save the workflow. There are three possible types of workflows: asset-based (default), term-based, and quote-based.

To automate the process of validating a term or term entry, select the term-based workflow type. This ensures that the workflow appears as a selection in the Validate New and Updated Terms or Term Entries or Create a TD Project from the Result Set pages.

For asset-based workflows, the Clean up segmentation data at task completion check box is selected by default on the Workflow: <name> page after you create a workflow. The check box marks obsolete segments for cleanup at the next run of the Segmented Assets Cleaner. You can schedule the Segmented Assets Cleaner to run either alongside the general garbage collection cleaner or separately, according to a custom schedule.
