Using silent install mode (Windows)

If you are unable to run the installation program in interactive mode, you can use the silent install mode to install the service pack at the command line.

Before you begin

Be sure that all Contenta-related services and applications are stopped before beginning the installation. To manually stop the Contenta server and the Solr and Crawler services (if applicable), navigate to Control Panel > Administrator Tools > Services and stop the following services in the following order.
  1. XyEnterprise Solr Server
  2. XyEnterprise Search Crawler
  3. XyEnterprise Contenta Server

About this task

There is no feedback in silent install mode; therefore, typographical errors on the command line are not reported. You must review the installation log file to confirm a successful installation.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the computer as the Administrator user or a user with administrator privileges.
  2. Back up the system files by changing to the Contenta_home directory and entering the appropriate command to zip the contents of that directory.
  3. Mount the installation ISO file.
To mount an ISO file, you can use Windows to extract the ISO to the file system or use a third‐party tool to mount the ISO as a disk.
  4. Open a command window and enter this command:

    install.exe -i silent

What to do next

Rebooting the computer after installing the service pack is recommended. If you choose to reboot the computer later, be sure to restart the portal process (PcmPortal).
