Performance variables for Acceptance
The performance of the main areas of LiveContent Central deployment depends on a number of performance variables, many of which are determined by your deployment configuration choices. This topic lists for each performance area which variables you might measure or examine.
Typically, performance bottlenecks occur in one of the following areas:
- Publishing throughput: publishing content takes too long.
- User Interface serving of webpages: visitors of the website wait too long for a webpage to be loaded in their browser.
Publishing performance variables
- Publishing volume, that is, the total combined size of items being submitted for publishing per publishing job.
- The complexity during resolving reference.
- The complexity and speed of custom indexing implementation.
- The bandwidth of the connection between the Publish client and Publish service system.
- The bandwidth of the connection between the database and service system.
- The type and speed of the firewall you use, and how it is configured.
- The type of anti-virus software you use, and how it is configured.
- The CPU, disk speed and RAM of machines where services are installed.
- The adjustments of configurations of LiveContent Central service for optimal performance.
User Interface serving web content performance variables
- The user's system connection speed.
- The number of page views per time unit.
- The number of concurrent users, that is, the number of active user sessions at any one time.
- The level of interactivity on webpages.
- The type and speed of the firewall you use, and how it is configured.
- The type of anti-virus software you use, and how it is configured.
- The number of IETP package upload requests per time unit.
- The CPU, disk speed and RAM of machines where services are installed.
- The maximum throughput rate of the hard disk of your database machine(s).
- How static or dynamic your website is (static websites serve content faster).
- The adjustments of configurations of LiveContent Central service for optimal performance.
