LiveContent S1000D Mobile overview
LiveContent S1000D Mobile is a separately purchasable LiveContent S1000D option consisting of the Mobile Publish Manager and Content Package Server, which allow you to create IETMs for viewing in the LiveContent S1000D Mobile app for iOS tablet devices.
- The Mobile Publish Manager uses LiveContent S1000D Publish and CollectionPub commands to generate a CD Image containing a publication (IETM) or collection for display on a mobile tablet device or the LiveContent S1000D desktop application.
- The LiveContent S1000D Mobile Content Package Server allows delivery and update of content packages containing CD Images over an internet connection. Alternatively, content packages can be distributed over a wired connection between the computer containing them and a supported tablet device using iTunes or similar tools to transfer files between a connected computer or an iPad tablet.
- One or more LiveContent S1000D Mobile client tablet devices.

LiveContent S1000D Mobile software hot-fix process
To upgrade LiveContent S1000D Mobile desktop components, standard RWS Service Pack and code hot-fix processes are followed; for updates to the LiveContent S1000D Mobile app, download the latest version from the Apple App Store.
Generating and distributing mobile content
If your organization uses Contenta S1000D, Contenta S1000D LiveContent Publish can also be used to generate a mobile-ready CD image. Refer to the Contenta S1000D user documentation for more information.
Content packages can be moved to the Content Package Server, which client devices access via a URL to download and update them.
Alternatively, content packages can be distributed by connecting a device (over a wired connection) directly to a computer containing them. ITunes can be used to transfer the content to an Apple client.
Synchronizing a LiveContent S1000D Mobile client
Using the Content Package Server, users can synchronize the content on the client device to the latest content packages via the LiveContent S1000D Mobile app interface. When a user connects to the internet, the interface indicates if an IETM has been added or changed since the last synchronization. The user can select one or more IETMs to add or synchronize, or can opt to synchronize all IETMs on the tablet.
Capturing user-generated data
LiveContent S1000D Mobile app Sync Back functionality allows upload of user-generated content, such as annotations, saved searches, and audit logs to the Content Package Server, or the device file system if you do not use the Content Package Server.
- Annotations are saved to ContentPackageServer_InstallFolder/books/collection_name/publication_name-*-annotations.json.
- Saved searches are saved to ContentPackageServer_InstallFolder/books/collection_name/books/collection_name/publication_name-*-saved-searches.json.
- Audit logs are saved to ContentPackageServer_InstallFolder/books/collection_name/books/collection_name/publication_name-*-audittrail.log.
If you do not use the Content Package Server, user-generated is saved to the device file system in a folder named syncback. It can then be transferred from the device to the server using File Sharing or a similar method.
User authentication
No LiveContent S1000D user authentication is performed on the LiveContent S1000D Mobile client tablet. User accounts, profiles, and groups are not supported on LiveContent S1000D Mobile client tablets. Any user with access to the device based on your organization's security protocols has full access to all the content on the device.
When processing a content package for mobile distribution, the Mobile Publish Manager applies the user profile associated with the underlying IETM in the LiveContent S1000D from which the content package is generated.
