Sharing termbases

Once you create termbases, you can share them with other users via a link included in exported translation packages.

Before you begin

The people receiving the link must have an SDL Trados Studio account to use or manage the termbase.

About this task

Every termbase link has an expiration date and two access modes: read-only or full-access. When translators receive a translation package, they can access the termbases if a distribution link was created for them.

Procedure

  1. In SDL Trados Studio, select Sign in in the top-right corner to connect SDL Trados Studio to SDL Trados Studio .
  2. Do one of the following:
    • If you are a first time user, sign up for an SDL Language Cloud account.
    • If you are a returning user, log in with your SDL Language Cloud credentials.
  3. Select your SDL Language Cloud account name in the top-right corner and then select Manage account.
  4. In SDL Trados Studio , go to the Resources view and select the Terminology tab OR select the Terminology view from the main menu.
  5. Select the check box corresponding to the termbase you want to share with other users.
  6. In the ACTIONS column, select link termbases.
  7. Select one of the available permissions from the list:
    • Anyone with the link can manage the termbase.
    • Anyone with the link can read the termbase.
  8. Specify an expiration date for the link to the termbase.
After this date, the permissions are automatically revoked.
  9. Select Generate link.

What to do next

Copy the link and send it to the interested parties in your workflow. If you decide to revoke access to the SDL Trados Studio termbase through the link, you can always delete the link.
