Adding Language Cloud termbases in SDL Trados Studio
If you have terminology assets configured in your SDL Language Cloud, add them to your project to be able to use them in translation.
Procedure
- Do one of the following:
- For existing projects, go to the Projects view, select Project Settings, and then on the Project Settings page, go to Language Pairs > All Language Pairs > Termbases
- For all future projects, go to File > Options > Language Pairs > All Language Pairs > Termbases
- Select Use > SDL Language Cloud Terminology.
- Log in to SDL Language Cloud if not already logged in.
- On the SDL Language Cloud Terminology Settings page, select the checkboxes corresponding to the termbases you want to use in your project from the My termbases or Shared with me lists.
Note: The Shared with me list includes the termbases created in SDL Language Cloud Terminology by other users who give you permission to access them via a link or a translation package.
- If you have edit permission over the Language Cloud termbases you work with, and you select the Update button for these termbases, once you finish translating your file(s), the Language Cloud termbases will be updated with the latest changes.
Note: The Update option can be enabled and used only if you have been given edit permission (over the Language Cloud termbase) by its author/owner.
- Choose the type of term search and define the term search settings:
- Linguistic fuzzy search - Searches text or terms which are similar to or a sub-part of the search term. For example, if you enter a derived word, linguistic fuzzy search retrieves all the terms based on that word's stem (or root).
- Character-based fuzzy search - Searches text or terms which are similar to or a sub-part of the search term, but is more fault-tolerant than linguistic fuzzy search.
- Select OK.
- Back in SDL Trados Studio consult the termbases you added. When the Enabled option is selected for the termbase, the termbase is automatically searched during translation when a segment becomes the active segment.
- Make sure the appropriate language for each termbase is set in the Languages pane for each project language. Each language must be mapped to a language in the termbase.
Note: If there is more than one language that is close match to the project language-for example, if there is a main language and one or more sub-languages such as French (France), French (Canada) and French (Belgium)-the closest matching language will appear in a drop-down list, where you can change the selection as needed. If there is no matching language available for a project language, the Termbase Language columns will be blank and you will not be able to use active terminology recognition for that language in your project.
- Select OK to save your changes and close the dialog.
