Detaching tasks via transitions (outcomes)

You can break the transition (outcome) between 2 tasks included in a custom workflow template and insert a task immediately after the first task, if that custom workflow template has the DRAFT status.

Procedure

  1. Open a custom workflow template which has the DRAFT status.
  2. Hover over a transition (or outcome) and select the three vertical dots.
  3. Select Change task and select the next task you want to connect with. The transition between the initial 2 tasks is deleted and a new task you selected is interposed between them. Make sure you reconnect the orphan topic back into the workflow template by selecting the plus sign and then selecting the next task it connects to.
For example let's assume you have a custom workflow template which has two Customer Quote Review tasks, one called """Customer Quote Review" and the other called "Customer Quote Review (new)". You decide that you do not need 2 rounds of Customer Quote Review, and you want to keep only one of the instances.
    1. Hover over the transition which connects the Customer Quote Review and Customer Quote Review (new) tasks.
    2. Select the three vertical dots, and select Detach task.
    3. Hover over the Customer Quote Review (new) task, select the three vertical dots, and then select Delete task.
    4. Select the plus sign and from the task list select Customer Quote Approval.
    5. Note that the Customer Quote Review and the Customer Quote Approval tasks are reconnected.
