Handling Bilingual Engineering tasks

The Bilingual Engineering task is meant for administrators, lead project managers, and project managers who need to make changes to the project files before being evaluated for quote purposes and before any translation activity can begin.

About this task

During the Bilingual Engineering task, users can lock content, correct source content or perform other edit operations.
The Bilingual Engineering task:
  • Is positioned before the Analysis task.
  • Skipped by default.
  • Cannot be assigned to vendors.

Users whose profile is configured with the Bilingual Engineering service type are dynamically assigned to the Bilingual Engineering task during workflow configuration.

By design, the workflow advances only after all the Bilingual Engineering tasks in a specific batch are completed. For example, if there 3 target languages, and the Bilingual Engineering tasks are completed only for 2 of the target languages, the workflow advances only after the Bilingual Engineering task of the last target language is also completed.

A new Bilingual Engineering task is generated as many times as you select the Send to Translation Memory Matching transition. There is no restriction to the number of times you can select the Send to Translation Memory Matching transition. • If you select Send to PerfectMatch, the project TM is reapplied on the file. If the workflow includes a Machine Translation task between the Translation Memory Matching task and the Bilingual Engineering task, the project MT resources are also reapplied on the file. After the TM and MT (if any) are applied, another Bilingual Engineering task is generated. A new Bilingual Engineering task is generated as many times as you select the Send to PerfectMatch transition. There is no restriction to the number of times you can select the Send to PerfectMatch transition.
