Adding AutoText entries during translation

An AutoText entry is text that you can directly enter yourself to use in AutoSuggest. AutoText entries are based on the target language and must be five or more characters in order for them to be offered as suggestions in AutoSuggest.

Before you begin

In order to use the AutoText as a source for AutoSuggest, you must first enable AutoSuggest.

About this task

For your convenience, you can add AutoText entries during translation, without the need to access another Trados Studio view.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Projects view and select the project you want to work on.
  2. Go to the Files view and double-click the file you want to work on.
  3. In the Editor window, select the word or phrase that you want to add to AutoText and press Alt+F7.
  4. In the Add AutoText Entry dialog, your selected word or phrase is displayed in the first box. If you want to make any changes to the text prior to adding it as an AutoText entry, you can do that in this box.
  5. Select Add to add the entry to the list below.
  6. Select OK to close the dialog and return to the Editor window.
The added entry will now be in the list of suggestions that is displayed when you type the beginning of a term or phrase with the same initial characters in the Editor window.
