Managing TM data
Translation memory (TM) data is managed in the Translation Memories view. All TMs that are currently available for editing appear in the navigation tree in the Translation Memories view. To add a TM to the navigation tree, use the Open command.
When you close and then reopen Trados Studio, the TMs, which were available in this view when you closed the application, will automatically be added to the view when you reopen the application. If any of the TMs are server-based, you will be asked to provide your user credential details.
To edit the content of a TM, you have to open the TM in the TM side-by-side editor window. Each TM appears as a separate file in the window. To switch between TM files, select TM's name tab. You can have several TMs open for editing, but you cannot edit multiple TMs at the same time. Only the active TM can be updated.
Maintenance Options
The TM maintenance tools available in Trados Studio enable you to:
- View translation units (TUs) and their associated fields (custom and system). You can use a filter to exclude unwanted TUs from the view.
- Search for particular TUs. You can use filters to refine the search.
- Edit and delete TUs.
- Assign values to custom fields or update existing field values.
- Import and export TUs.
- Import and export filters.
- Use batch tools to edit or delete multiple TUs simultaneously.
Translation Memory pages
TUs are retrieved and displayed in batches. Each TU batch is referred to as a page (a TM page). The size of the page is determined by a setting in the Options dialog on the Translation Memories View page. You can increase or decrease this setting.
To move up and down the page, use the scroll bar. To move from one page to the next, use the page navigation options on the Home tab, Navigation group: First Page/Previous Page/Next Page/Last Page. You cannot move from the current page until you have either committed or canceled all of the changes you have made on the page.
