Handling error tasks

Errors may occur at different points during the project life cycle. When an error occurs, you can repeat the task or re-submit the files which could not be processed. Access the Error task assigned to you from the Inbox view.

About this task

Procedure

  1. Log in to Trados Team by accessing this link: https://cloud.trados.com.
  2. Go to the Inbox view.
  3. Select the New tab.
  4. Identify the task and select the check box corresponding to the task row.

This scenario can also occur if you upload an *.sdlxliff file, but its source language and/or target language do not match the project source language and/or target language.
    • Cancel - Select Cancel to remove the source file. You will not be able to receive a translation for this file.

    Human tasksUser actions
At least one designated project manager must be specified before you start your project. If you do not specify any user as project manager, but you assign the task to the Project Managers variable, your risk having tasks that cannot be worked on because they do not have any assignees. An Error task is generated. Access the project settings, specify a project manager, and then access the Error task, and select Retry. An Error task is generated. Access the project settings, specify a project manager, and then access the Error task, and select Retry.
    Human tasksUser actions
Any human task can fail during its setup in any of the following situations:
    • The users assigned to the tasks are no longer part of the account
    • The system experiences service failure
    • Retry - Select Retry to re-attempt the setup of the task. If the Error task informs you that the task failed because the assignee is no longer part of the account, add an assignee to the task, and then select Retry.
    • Skip - Select Skip to move on to the next task in the workflow, based on the default outcome of the failing task. Not all tasks can be skipped.
    • Discard - Select Discard to cancel the source file, target file, language or batch associated with the failed task.
  9. To perform batch operations on tasks, go to your Inbox, select the Active tab, select all the error tasks of interest (even if they are not of the same type), and then select one of the available options Skip, Cancel or Retry. If you select error tasks of different types, the available batch options depend on the operations that are common to the selected error tasks.
For example, let's say you select the error tasks generated as a result of failure of Target Translation Generation, Translation Memory Update and Machine Translation. Since only the Retry operation is common to all three error tasks, you can perform only batch Retry. The other operations (Cancel and Skip) can be performed individually.
