Access control permissions for translation memories

By configuring access control permissions, you can control whether you want users or groups of users to have only read or read and write permissions to a specific translation memory.

You can configure access control permissions on the Access Control tab of the dialog box displayed when you add or modify a translation memory (Management > Linguistic Tool Setup > Translation Memory Setup > Translation Memory: <name>).

By default, access control is disabled (the Unrestricted button is selected). To restrict access to a translation memory, select Restricted, and then configure the appropriate permissions for specific users or groups of users.

Access control permissions work in tandem with existing user type permissions. For example, to browse a translation memory, users need to have the Can browse TM user type permission and read access control permissions for that translation memory. Similarly, to modify a TM entry, users need to have the Can modify TM user type permissions and write access control permissions for that translation memory.

TM group permissions are derived from the translation memories used within it. A user has read permissions to the TM group as long as that user has read access to at least one TM within the group. In such cases, TM entries can only be read or leveraged from the translation memories for which the user has read permissions. If the user wants to see a list of all the translation memories in the TM group, only a list of the translation memories for which the user has read permissions is displayed.
