Configuring linguistic tool settings for project types

When you add a project type, the linguistic settings that you need to configure usually imply selecting one or more translation memories (TMs), terminology databases (TDs), machine translation (MT) configurations, quality models, or Studio QA Checker profiles.

About this task

You can choose different values per target locale for all the settings that you configure on the Linguistic Tools tab. For example, you might want to use a default quality model for all the target locales, except for German-Germany. To do so, select the Advanced options check box, and then select the target locale (German-Germany) and its corresponding quality model. Select set another each time you want to add another value for another target locale.

Procedure

  1. Under Translation Memory, select the translation memory that you want the project type to use.
You can choose either the TM used by the client of the project or a default TM for all locales.
  2. Under Terminology Database, select the terminology database that you want the project type to use.
You can choose either the TD used by the client of the project or a default TD for all locales.
  3. Under Machine Translation Configuration, select the machine translation configuration that you want the project type to use 1.
  4. Under Quality Models, select the quality model that you want the project type to use.
Use quality models to assess the quality of a translation by creating error types and severities and applying them during the review process.
  5. Under Studio QA Checker Profile, select the Studio QA checker profile that you want the project type to use.
These profiles are used for verifying settings in Trados Studio2.
1 During the leverage process, WorldServer uses both TMs and MT configurations to produce fuzzy matches. In the absence of 100% or better matches, WorldServer performs scoping calculations based on the score of the best fuzzy match from the TM or MT configuration.
2 To use a Studio QA Checker profile in WorldServer, you need to upload it by going to Management > Administration > Customization and selecting Studio QA Checker Profile in the Custom component type list.
