Importing offline work

If you or another member of your team worked on a task offline, in a program such as Trados Studio, you can import the work back into WorldServer as a return package. Keep in mind that you can only import tasks that are currently claimed by you.

Procedure

  1. In WorldServer, go to any of the following pages:
    • The Projects page (on both interfaces).
    • The Tasks page (on both interfaces).
    • The Explorer page (on both interfaces).
    • The Home page of the WorldServer 11 interface, on the Get Started tab.
  2. Select Import 1.
  3. Depending on the interface you are using, in the Import Offline Work dialog box, select Browse or Choose File, and then select the file that you want to import.
  4. Optional: In the Import Offline Work dialog box, you can also:
    • Select the Update the translatiom memory using imported assets check box if you want to update the translation memory based on the contents of the translation kit2 and if you have the appropriate permissions.
    • Select the Perform import in the background check box if you want the translation kit to be imported in the background3.
  5. Select Import.
1 In WorldServer Explorer, you need to select Tools > Export/Import > Import.
2 When you import a translation kit, the translation memories you use in offline translation tools are not imported. However, if you select this check box, the source and target segments are aligned and inserted into the WorldServer translation memory. You can import the contents of an external translation memory by going to Tools > Translation Memories.
3 If you choose to import a kit in the background, you can log out from WorldServer while waiting for the job to be performed. If you choose not to import the kit in the background, you must be logged in to WorldServer until the import is completed. You can only import kits in the background on the WorldServer 11 interface and only if you have the appropriate permissions.
