Security options for term databases

You can impose a security policy for your term databases through a combination of user type permissions, access control permissions, and attribute masking.

In WorldServer, you can take the following measures to protect your term databases:
  • Restrict users' permissions to perform certain actions. For example, you might allow them to update or add TD entries in their own languages and to view terms in other languages.
  • Set up users with limited modify permissions. For example, you might allow them to modify individual TD entries, but not to execute wide-ranging operations such as purging the term database.
  • Define TD entry attributes that are specific to one or more TDs. For example, a user who is modifying a TD entry can see only attributes that are relevant to that particular TD.
  • Limit the access to TDs to specific users or groups.
Read and write permissions may vary: for example, someone might have write permissions on one TD, but only read permissions on another, and no access at all to a third TD. You can also assign permissions to user groups, which means that all the users in that group can perform the same actions.
