TransPort configuration overview
Before configuring TransPort, client managers should consider how they want to organize their data, whether or not their clients will use their own TMs or TDs, or whether they want their clients to have access to TransPort.
- The locales that users will translate from and into.
- Appropriate user types, if necessary.
WorldServer comes with a default user type for TransPort users, but, if you want, you can distinguish between multiple types of TransPort users by creating additional user types. For example, you might create a user type with limited permissions for client users and another user type with multiple permissions for TransPort project managers.
- The users who will work with the system.
There are no predefined TransPort users, so you have to create them yourself and include them into the appropriate TransPort user type.
- A top-level folder or mount for clients.
You will need this for all projects created by selecting Upload Files and Create Project. You can create a new AIS mount or create a new folder in an existing mount by using WorldServer Explorer. When you create a default client folder or mount, WorldServer lists user-specified client names as subfolders within that folder or mount. For example, if a client manager creates a client called ABC Company and selects clients as the top-level folder or mount, ABC Company becomes a subfolder under Clients.
- Workgroups for TransPort users (if necessary). You can also use an existing workgroup, such as the Default one. If you want to create separate workgroups, make sure that all client users are in a workgroup configured to create TransPort projects and that all TransPort users who request quotes are in the workgroup specified in the project type that they select.
- Workflows. If you want to use special workflows for TransPort, you need to create them.
- Any custom attributes that might help you implement your business logic. For example, if your client managers want to track projects and quotes by purchase order (PO) numbers, you can add a mandatory custom attribute. In this case, users will have to enter a PO number when they create a quote or a project.
- Cost models, project types, and clients.
