Options Dialog Box > Editor > Languages
Use the settings to specify:
- he default source language for all new translations. This is useful if you always translate from the same language.
- The default target language for all new translations. This is useful if you always translate into the same language.
- Whether or not you want to be asked to provide the source or target language for a new translation when SDL Trados Studio cannot detect these automatically.
To display the settings, select from the menu bar and select from the navigation tree in the Options dialog box.

Source Language | The language you select here is automatically chosen as the default document source language for all future translations. For example, if you generally translate from German (Germany), you would select German (Germany). You can remove the default source language for each individual translation when you are creating new projects. However, you cannot change the source language for existing projects. |
Target Language | Optionally, select a default target language. If you select a language here, the language is automatically chosen as the document target language when you create new translations. For example, if you generally translate into French (France), you would select French (France). If you need to, you can change the default target language selection when you are creating new translations. |
Prompt for document languages if they cannot be detected automatically | Select this if you want to be asked to make source and target language selections whenever you are creating a new translation. |
