Configuring Microsoft PowerPoint 2007-2016 file types
You can configure Microsoft PowerPoint 2007-2016 settings, so that you customize the way this file type is processed during translation or review.
Procedure
- Decide for which projects you want to configure file type settings:
- For the active project, go to the Projects view, and on the Home tab, select Project Settings.
- For all future projects, go to .
- Expand the File Types list, and select the Microsoft PowerPoint 2007-2016 filter.
- Select the Common page, and then specify which content becomes translatable:
- Under Select the optional content to include for translation:, specify which content becomes translatable:
- Select the Master view content checkbox, to make master view content translatable.
- Select the Headers and footers checkbox, to make header and footer content translatable.
- Select the Notes checkbox, to make notes translatable.
- Select the Hidden content (shapes and slides) checkbox, to extract hidden content for translation.
- Select the Alternative text checkbox, to extract the text corresponding to the
ALTHTML attribute for translation. - Select the Hyperlinks checkbox, to extract the text corresponding to the
ALTHTML attribute for translation. - Select the Comments checkbox, to make comments translatable.
- Select the Embedded Excel charts and sheets checkbox, to make content from embedded Excel charts and sheets translatable.
- In the Document properties area, select one of the available options from the list:
- Do not extract - This setting does not extract any file properties for translation.
- All document properties - This setting extracts all the file properties from the Summary and Custom tabs, and makes them available for translation.
- Summary - This setting extracts the file properties only from the Summary tab (title, subject, author etc.) and makes them available for translation.
- Custom - This extracts the file properties only from the Custom tab and makes them available for translation.
- Under Other settings::
- Select Treat special characters as inline placeholder tags, to treat non-breaking space, tabs and hyphens as tags. If you enable this option, special characters are enclosed in inline tags. Note that the em dash and en dash characters are always treated as text.
- Select Skip character spacing and kerning, to ignore spacing, kerning and placeholders such as
<cf nfa="True">. - Select Extract optional hyphens, to extract hyphens. SDL recommends that you leave this option disabled, because the placement of discretionary hyphens depends on the structure and pronunciation of words in the source language.
- Select Retain Studio target comments in target file, to keep any comments you add to your translation during the review phase in the translated target file.
- Under Select the optional content to include for translation:, specify which content becomes translatable:
- Select Font mapping.
- Specify the font mapping settings for your source and target languages.
- Select OK.
