Opening project packages and return packages
Packages contain work that you need to complete or contain work completed that is being sent back to you. You must first open the package in SDL Trados Studio to update SDL Trados Studio with the modified files or to access the files for translation or review. You can open a project package or a return package in SDL Trados Studio.
Procedure
- Go to File > Open > Open Package.
- In the Open Package dialog, double-click the project package or return package to open it.
Note:
If you are opening a SDL WorldServer package, SDL Trados Studio displays the Converting WorldServer Settings page. Here you can choose to generate translation and analysis statistics, to perform the Analyze Files task and get the Analyze Files report for the files included in the package. Packages from SDL WorldServer or other enterprise application will be converted to SDL Trados Studio formats during the Preparing Package for Import stage.
- On the Review Package Contents page, check the package details and select folders from the bottom left-hand pane to view the files within that folder in the bottom-right hand pane.
- Select a file, and then select View File to preview it. A preview window is displayed with both the file to be translated and the file translation side by side. The source language file appears on the left and the target language version on the right.
- Select Finish to import the package. The Importing Package page is displayed.
- Perform an action depending on the project package type you work with:
- If you open a project package, and it is the first time that you have opened a package for this project, SDL Trados Studio will, by default, create a folder for this project under the Documents folder. The project folder is labeled with the name of the project to which the package is associated. You can choose to save the project to a different folder, in the Review Package Contents window, by selecting Browse.
- If you open a return package, SDL Trados Studio checks the files included in the package to make sure they were more recently modified than the local files in the project. If it finds a file in the package that is older than a local file, a prompt is displayed asking if you want to overwrite the local file with the one from the package:
If you want the file in the package to... Select... Overwrite the local file,
Yes Keep the local file unchanged,
No Overwrite the local file, and if you want any further files in the package that are older than the local files to also overwrite the local files,
Yes to All Keep local file unchanged, and if you want any further files found in the package that are older than the local files to be kept unchaged,
No to All Not be imported, and the process canceled,
Cancel - When the import is complete, select Close.
- If you opened a project package, a project, corresponding to the project details in the package, has been created and opened in SDL Trados Studio. The manual task assigned to that package is displayed in the My Tasks folder, in the navigation tree of the Files view. You can then open files for translation or review from the Files view.
- If you opened a return package, the corresponding project is updated with the completed manual task information in SDL Trados Studio.
Note: If the import process is not successful, an error is displayed. Select the error and click Show Results to display the Results dialog where detailed information about the error is displayed.
