Upgrading file-based TMs

You can upgrade one or several file-based translation memories (TMs) which you have not used in a long time to make sure your translation hits are based on the latest TM changes.

About this task

You can use the Upgrade Translation Memories wizard:
  • To upgrade TMs which require fragment alignment and reindexing
  • To create TMs for each language pair from a multi-language TM
  • To specify new TM settings: location, fields, language, and language resources.

The TMs which require an upgrade are identified by the non-upgraded TM icon, while the ones already upgraded are identified by the upgraded TM icon.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Translation Memories view.
  2. Go to the Home tab, and, in the Tools group, select Upgrade Translation Memories.
  3. In the Upgrade Translation Memories dialog, on the Input Translation Memories page select:
    • Add File-based TMs from Folder to add an entire TM folder. Select the folder containing the TMs you want to upgrade.
    • Add File-based TMs to add a selection of TMs. Select the TM(s) which require(s) upgrading.
  4. Select Next.
  5. On the Output Translation Memories page, decide whether you want to create TMs for specific language pairs or not. Select one of the options: Create output translation memory for each input translation memory, Create output translation memory for each language pair or Custom.
  6. Select Next.
  7. On the Upgrade Translation Memories Settings page, specify any necessary settings on the available tabs: Location, Settings, Language Pairs, Compatibility, Fields and Language Resources.
  8. Select Finish.
