Configuring a proxy server
Transporting content often involves sending data out of a corporate network (where the Content Manager resides) and into a public network (where the Presentation Servers reside). Corporate networks use proxy servers to restrict communication with the outside world and so minimize the risk of unwarranted external access to the corporate network.
There are two different types of proxies:
- A generic proxy monitors communications from various applications
- An application-specific proxy works only for the specific application you are using.
If you use a proxy to communicate with the Content Delivery server, you must configure the proxy. The exact configuration tasks depend on the protocol(s) you are using, and on the type of proxy you are using.
