Viewing the Purge Tool Log file
When you run a Purge, a Purge Tool Log file is created. Note that:
- If you do not specify a Log File, the default folder is used. This folder is named Logs and is located in the same location as the Purge Tool directory.
If you do not specify a prefix, the default file name starts with
Purge_.The current date and time is added to the filename prefix in a predefined format (yyyymmdd-hhmmss). For example, purge_20030320-120300.log indicating that the log file was created on March 20th, 2003 at 12:03.
All actions are logged in a text file. The logged information comprises:
- Date and Time
- Item Name
- Item URI
- Organizational item Name
- Number of versions purged from the Version History
When you perform a Purge using the Purge Tool, the latest logging information is also displayed in a frame at the bottom of the interface.
In addition to status and statistical information, errors encountered during purging are also noted in the log file.
