Editing content in Experience Manager
The most fundamental and common tasks you will perform in Experience Manager is the editing of content on a webpage.
- Basic tasks and concepts
You can modify the contents of your website directly in the web browser. For example, you can edit content directly inline; add, remove, or move pieces of content; and add new Pages to the website. - Editing text on the webpage
You can edit text on an editable webpage. - Adding standalone images and files to the webpage
A standalone image or other standalone file that is stored in the Content Manager database is contained within a Multimedia Component. While editing a webpage in Experience Manager, you can easily add Multimedia Components to the page, as well as edit, replace, or remove existing Multimedia Components from a page. - Editing the metadata of a Component or webpage
Edit metadata to provide information about the item you are editing. You edit metadata in a popup because typically, metadata does not appear on the webpage. - Editing a Component in a dialog
Inline editing lets you modify content of a Component on the Web page. But the Component may contain information that is not on the Web page. You may still want to edit this information, because it may appear on other Web pages. To edit all fields of a Component, use the All Fields dialog. To see and modify all aspects of a Component, including the ability to preview, use Open Form View. - Adding, moving or removing items in a multivalue field
A Component you edit may contain multivalue fields, that is, fields that are lists of items of the same type: for example, a list of images, a list of links to internal content, and so on. You can add, move or remove these items. - Resolving a lock
For a variety of reasons, the item you are trying to edit may show you a lock icon in its border. If this happens, you can find out why you are unable to edit the item, and how you may be able to make it editable.
