Discontinued functionality in Experience Optimization

Discontinued functionality is functionality that is no longer supported.

Experience Optimization navigation

The navigation functionality included in Experience Optimization is discontinued effective with the SDL Tridion Sites 9 release. This includes the Show Experience Optimization Navigation Template Building Block.

When upgrading to SDL Tridion Sites 9, before you upgrade to the Default Templates, you first need to remove the discontinued TBB from being used in your Templates. Until then, you can continue using the old Templates.

As an alternative, you can implement navigation for you website using any of the following methods:
  • Use the Tridion Sites's Taxonomy functionality to generate navigation that is based on Keywords.
  • Use the ability to generate dynamic navigation based on Tridion Sites Structure Groups. For details, refer to the related topic on this method.
  • If you are using SDL Digital Experience Accelerator (DXA), you can use DXA's sample implementation for either taxonomy-based or Structure Group-based navigation. Refer to the DXA documentation.
  • If navigation only needs to contain Experience Optimization item based navigation, you can use location-based Experience Optimization queries to retrieve items belonging to a location. For example, you can query items that belong to a Keyword or Folder (a Category).
  • Use any of the options described on the SDL Tridion Developer website: http://www.tridiondeveloper.com/tag/navigation
