Experience Manager functionality introduced in SDL Web 8

New features and functionality in the browser-based Experience Manager user interface.

Button to launch Experience Manager changed and repositioned

A button labeled SDL Tridion previously appeared in the top left corner of Experience Manager-enabled Web pages, allowing the user to launch Experience Manager. Such pages now display a pencil icon button at top right that does the same thing.

Simpler form view

In addition to the full-fledged Form View dialog (identical to the one displayed in Content Manager Explorer), Experience Manager now also has a simpler Form View, which shows all fields of the selected Component or Page, without all the additional controls.

Increased user control of the Notification panel

Two improvements to the Notification panel, available from the top of the screen: users can now mark all items in the Show Pending screen as read, and users can clear all notifications from the Show All screen.

Format Area: clipboard access through browser only

To cut, copy and paste in a Format Area, users can only use the keystrokes supported by the internet browser they use; there are no more Cut, Copy or Paste buttons in the toolbar.
