Updating Content Delivery databases for Cumulative Update 1

The various Content Delivery databases have changed as part of Cumulative Update 1. To apply the update, run upgrade scripts on these databases.

Before you begin

Close all connections to your database server before upgrading your Content Delivery databases.

To upgrade the databases, you need details of DBA and user credentials and the names of the databases.

Procedure

  1. For safety reasons, back up your databases.
  2. Open Windows PowerShell from the Windows Start Menu.
  3. On the Cumulative Update 1 installation media, navigate to the Database\ folder and then to one of the following subfolders:
    • If upgrading an Oracle database, go to the Oracle\ subfolder.
    • If upgrading a Microsoft SQL Server-type database, go to the MSSQL\ subfolder.
  4. Run the following scripts:
    1. Run the command Upgrade Content Data Store.ps1 twice: once to upgrade the Content Data Store and once to upgrade the Experience Manager database. Follow the instructions in the PowerShell console to upgrade the database.
    2. Run the command Upgrade User Generated Content database.ps1 to upgrade the UGC database. Follow the instructions in the PowerShell console to upgrade the database.

What to do next

If you encounter problems during the upgrade, restore your backup and try again. If your second attempt fails as well, consult SDL Customer Support for assistance. Do not attempt to fix the database.
