Updating the Content Manager database for Cumulative Update 1
The Content Manager database has changed as part of Cumulative Update 1. To apply the update, run the upgrade script on this database.
Before you begin
Before proceeding with these steps, you need to first do the following:
- Close all connections to your database server before upgrading your Content Manager database.
- Have on hand the details of DBA and user credentials and the name of the database.
- If you have previously applied the CM_9.0.0.19535 hotfix and are updating an Oracle database, you need to apply hotfix CM_9.0.1.22860 for database scripts. Contact support to obtain the hotfix.
Procedure
- For safety reasons, back up your database.
- Open Windows PowerShell from the Windows Start Menu.
- On the Cumulative Update 1 installation media, navigate to the Database\ folder and then to one of the following subfolders:
- If upgrading an Oracle database, go to the
Oracle\subfolder. - If upgrading a Microsoft SQL Server-type database, go to the MSSQL\ subfolder.
- If upgrading an Oracle database, go to the
- Run the command
Upgrade Content Manager Database.ps1. Follow the instructions in the PowerShell console to upgrade the database.
What to do next
If you encounter problems during the upgrade, restore your backup and try again. If your second attempt fails as well, consult SDL Customer Support for assistance. Do not attempt to fix the database.
