Creating projects with the AEM connector
When you create a translation project via the AEM connector, you select the pages, assets and other AEM items you want to translate. You can also select and add tags, metadata, images, and content fragments or these elements will be added automatically based on the settings in the AEM Translation Integration configuration set by your AEM administrator.
About this task
While Trados supports the creation of project templates and projects which have the same source and target language, we strongly recommend that you do not submit such projects via connectors. Your content tool or your CMS application may not support the retrieval of files which have the same source and target language.
Procedure
- On the Projects Overview page, select Create.
- In the AEM repository, navigate to the pages and assets you want to translate.
- Select the item you want to translate. You can select multiple items under the same node path. To select l18n dictionaries, select the Files dropdown, and then l18n Dictionaries, the dictionary root, and the dictionary language.
- Select Add. The pages are shown at the bottom left of the page. From here you can choose to remove any added items. If necessary, select other items from another node path and select Add.
- If necessary, select Include child pages to add all sub-nodes under the item you have chosen. When selecting this option, a warning message is displayed to warn users of excessive server load for large projects. When using this option, be mindful of the number of pages added and the number of target languages you intend to create. Large projects can have an adverse effect on the AEM server performance. Selecting this option automatically include child pages for all the selected items. If previous selections are affected by this change, the items in the bottom left of the page are highlighted in green/red as they are updated.
- Select Next.
- On the Configure Translation page, set the translation project requirements. The options on this page come from both the AEM platform and the Trados Cloud platform, and vary depending on how the system is set up.
- Basic settings
- Add a project name of up to 50 characters. The information icon highlights certain special characters that are not supported for project names.
- (Optional) Add a project description of up to 255 characters.
- Select Automatically approve translations to skip the approval stage in AEM when translated items are returned from RWS. Selecting this option moves projects through the AEM workflow automatically up to the Complete status. Depending on the size of the project and the speed of the AEM server, this could happen very quickly and disappear from the Translation Project Overview screen. Select the Show complete projects toggle to confirm the project completed successfully.
- Select Automatically promote translation launches and Delete launch after promotion to set how AEM manages language launches after translation is completed.
- Advanced settings
- Select a cloud configuration (Cloud configuration). If there is only one configuration, the field is set by default and no action is required. The cloud configurations you see here map to the Cloud Project Template (in Trados).
- Set a due date for your project.
- Select a source language. The available source languages are defined by the cloud configuration chosen previously. You can select only one source language per project.
- Select one or more target languages. The available target languages are defined by the cloud configuration chosen previously.
- Select Translated content location to define how AEM creates and updates the language copy or overwrites the language master.
- Basic settings
- Select Next.
- On the Confirmation Screen page, consult all the project details and all the item paths for translation.
- Select Save. After saving, the project details cannot be updated.
- Select Start to begin the AEM workflow, cloud project creation and transfer of the project to RWS.
