Linguistic Review configurations

Users who configure Linguistic Review tasks must choose one of the three configurations: Edit with comments, Revisions enabled, and TQA enabled.

Each configuration is described in terms of:
  • Trados Online Editor behavior
  • Trados Studio behavior
  • Limitations

Edit with comments

  • Trados Online Editor behavior

    When linguists open the Linguistic Review task in Trados Online Editor, they can work in Review mode with Track Changes disabled by default. Linguists can make changes to the translation and manage comments. The Review tab is available.

  • Trados Studio behavior

    When linguists open the Linguistic Review task in Trados Studio, they can work in review mode by default.

  • Limitations

    If translators make revisions during translation, and if during translation the Comments review mode is enabled, linguistic reviewers will not be able to see these revisions and act upon them.

Revisions enabled

  • Trados Online Editor behavior

    When linguists open the Linguistic Review task in Trados Online Editor, they can work in Review mode with Track Changes enabled by default. Linguists can make changes to the translation and manage comments. The Review tab is available.

  • Trados Studio behavior

    When linguists open the Linguistic Review task in Trados Studio, they can work in review mode by default.

  • Limitations

    If translators make revisions during translation, and if during translation the Comments review mode is enabled, linguistic reviewers will not be able to see these revisions and act upon them.

Simplified Editing

When linguists or subject matter experts open the Linguistic Review task in Trados Online Editor, they can work with a simplified user interface.

When working with a Simplified Editing configuration, linguists and subject matter experts can work with the following features: manage comments, find and replace text, view document structure information

When working with a Simplified Editing configuration, linguists and subject matter experts cannot work with the following features, as these are disabled for more ease of use: verify documents, manage revisions, filter documents, track changes.

TQA enabled

For TQA review mode to be fully enabled, you must select a TQA profile in the settings section of the project template creation wizard or project creation wizard (Settings > Quality Management > Translation Quality Assessment Models).
  • Trados Online Editor behavior

    When linguists open the Linguistic Review task in Trados Online Editor, they can add TQAs only. The Assessment tab is available and the Assess Quality mode is enabled by default. The Comments panel is not available for this review mode, as comments can be added directly in each TQA. The Quality Assessment panel is available.

  • Trados Studio behavior

    When linguists open the Linguistic Review task in Trados Studio, they can work in Review mode by default.

  • Limitations
    • If translators make revisions and add comments during translation, and if during Linguistic Review the TQA review mode is enabled, linguistic reviewers will not be able to see the comments and the revisions.
    • If linguistic reviewers add TQAs and they select Request corrections in Trados Online Editor, translators who receive the content back to translation will not be able to see the TQA changes or act upon them.
    • The TQA report is available only for Administrators, Lead Project Managers, and Project Managers.
