Projects category
To manage the data in the Projects view and Inbox view, custom roles must have several additional permissions related to the Projects category.
Projects category - permission definitions and dependencies
- List allows users to see projects created by themselves in the project list, but it will not work unless Projects > View Other Users Projects is enabled. Note that users cannot retrieve any project if they do not have both permissions (List and View Other Users Projects). Users can see the projects located in their folder (and its children folders).
- Create allows users to create projects. This permission also needs:
- Projects > List
- Projects > Start (if you want users to start the project)
- Files > Create (if you want your users to add source and reference files during project creation)
- Customers > View
- At least the View permission for all the resources which make up a project (project template, translation memory, termbase, translation engine, machine translation, workflow, workflow template, pricing model, file type configuration, and optionally custom fields)
- Delete allows users to delete projects. This permission also needs:
- Projects > List
- Projects > View Other Users Projects (to delete projects created by other users)
- Planning allows users to work with the Workflow tab of a project. This permission also needs:
- Users > View (to work with user assignments)
- Groups > View (to work with group assignments)
- Vendor Order Template > View (to work with vendor order templates and vendor assignments)
- Workflows > View
- Projects > List
- Projects > Edit
- Projects > View Other Users Projects (to open details for projects created by other users)
- Start allows users to start the translation workflow of projects. This permission also needs:
- Projects > List
- Projects > View Other Users Projects (to start projects created by other users)
- Projects > Add Files to Existing Project (to start new batches from mid-project updates in existing projects)
- View Other Users Projects allows users to see and work with projects (and all their elements) created by other users. This permission also needs Projects > List.
- Edit allows users to manage project details (name, description, settings) and perform the following operations: complete projects, move projects back in progress, add custom fields from project settings, change task due dates, and work with future task assignments in the Workflow tab (assign users, exclude or include tasks in project workflow). This permission also needs:
- Projects > List
- Projects > View Other Users Projects (to edit projects created by other users)
- View Details allows users to open a project and see the details of the following project tabs: Dashboard, Stages, Workflow, Reports, Costs, Files, Task History, Settings (including TQA). This permission also needs:
- Projects > List
- Projects > Planning
- Projects > Quotes > View
- Projects > View Project Notes
- Projects > View Other Users Projects (to have access to the files, tasks, details, resources, projects created by other users)
- Workflows > View
- Resources > View for the following resources: File Type Configurations, Workflows, Translation Engines, Quotes, Translation Quality Assessment Models, Custom Fields
- View Project Notes allows users to view the project notes in the Notes tab. This permission also needs:
- Projects > View Details (to open the project)
- Projects > View Other Users Projects (to view notes for projects created by other users)
- Edit Project Notes allows users to edit the project notes in the Notes tab. This permission also needs:
- Projects > View Details (to open the project)
- Projects > View Project Notes
- Projects > View Other Users Projects (to view notes for projects created by other users)
- Edit Project Settings allows users to edit the settings of an existing project, under the Configuration tab. This permission also needs:
- Projects > View Details (to open the project)
- Projects > View Other Users Projects (to view settings for projects created by other users)
- Edit Project Settings in New Project allows users to edit the settings of a project in the project creation wizard. This permission also needs the Projects > Create permission.
- Add Files to Existing Project allows users to add source files to an existing project. This permission also needs:
- Projects > View Details (to open the project)
- Projects > Start
- Projects > View Other Users Projects (to add files in projects created by other users)
- Files > View
- Change Translation Engine allows users to change the translation engine of a project which has the New or In Progress statuses.
- Project Quote Template Manage allows users to change the quote template of a project which has the New or In Progress statuses.
- Project Pricing Model Manage allows users to change the pricing model of a project which has the New or In Progress statuses.
How can I ensure administrator or project manager-like roles have access to the project tabs and tasks?
Follow these guidelines to manage the specifics of the various project tabs and project management tasks:
- To perform force operations in the Stages tab, when they are not task owners, users need Tasks > View and Manage. Note that the Stages tab is displayed for started projects only.
- To view information in the Dashboard tab, users need Projects > List
- To view and work with the Workflow tab, users also need Projects > Edit and Projects > Planning
- To view Reports information at project level, users need Projects > List
- To view Reports information at file level in the shape of the analysis report, users need Files > View
- To view and edit costs in the Costs tab, users need Quote > View and Edit
- To upload reference files in the Files tab, users need Files > View
- To upload source files in the Files tab for running projects, users need:
- Files > View
- Projects > Edit and Start
- Projects > Add Files to Existing Project
- To download a file version from the Files tab or a
*.zip, users need:- Projects > Edit and Start
- File Type Configuration > View

- Files > Download (for regular projects) or Files > Download Files from Restricted Projects (for restricted projects)
