Working with content in the Asset Interface System (AIS)
The Asset Interface System (or AIS) is the framework that WorldServer uses to access content, which might be stored in a content management system, in a file system, in a database, or in another format.
To work on your content in WorldServer, you need to specify where it is and in what type of structure it resides. In general, it should be either directly on the server or directly accessible from the server on which WorldServer is installed. The WorldServer AIS provides a consistent hierarchy of folders and content, regardless of the underlying storage mechanism.
WorldServer uses connectors to work with each type of repository. Users interact with the AIS through the WorldServer Explorer, which provides many of the features that you would use with your own file system, database, or version control software. By default, any user with access to the AIS, has, at a minimum, permission to view all the locales and folders. You can configure additional permissions, which provide more granular access control to individual folders and assets, by modifying the appropriate user types.
