Working with properties associated with AIS paths

An AIS property is a property associated with an AIS path.

All WorldServer folders and assets have properties. The properties of a folder or asset determine their associated locale, the translation memory used during translation, the terminology database in which you search for terms, and other behavior. You can view and modify properties for folders and assets by going to Management > Asset Interface System > View and Change Properties.

Generally, administrators have full TM, TD, and AIS access control list (ACL) access to all the properties in the Asset Interface System. You can configure access control by going to Management > Asset Interface System > View and Change Properties. Access controls restricts a user's ability to view, read, write, or change an asset. You can restrict access by user, by locale, by user type, or by workflow role.

For each property, a folder or asset can have one of the following values:
  • No value.
  • An inherited value (the default), which means that the folder or asset retrieves the value of that property from its hierarchical parent.
  • An explicit value, which means that the folder or asset has a different value than its hierarchical parent.

You only need to associate the top-level folder or asset for each property. You do not need to explicitly set properties for subfolders, because they will automatically inherit the property from their parent folder.
