Searching for objects in the repository

You search for objects in the repository by typing one or more search terms (the words or phrase that best describe the information you want to find) into a search box then by clicking the Search button. The search mechanism searches both object-level metadata and full-text.

Procedure

  1. In your XML authoring application, select Tridion Docs > Browse Repository.
  2. In the Browse Repository dialog that opens, select the Search tab.
  3. In the Find what field, enter your search criteria.
  4. By default, you only search in the latest versions of the objects in the repository. To instead search in all versions, select All versions.
  5. Optionally, expand Advanced Options to access options where you can type, or use the dropdown menus, to enter the desired search criteria to limit the search to a more narrow field of search criteria.
  6. Click Search.
    A result list appears.
    • The default list is sorted by relevance.
    • You can click on a column header in the list to sort on a that column.
  7. Optionally, to conduct a new search, use the Reset button to clear data from all fields and specify new search criteria.
